Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has declared that the club and its supporters would wholeheartedly welcome the return of Jurgen Klopp if current manager Arne Slot were to depart Anfield. Aldridge, who made 103 appearances for the Reds, shared his views amid growing speculation about Slot's future following a challenging season.
Klopp's Illustrious Liverpool Legacy
Jurgen Klopp enjoyed a highly successful eight-and-a-half-year tenure at Liverpool before stepping down in May 2024. During his time on Merseyside, the German manager secured eight major honours, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League. Klopp achieved a remarkable 60.9 per cent win rate, with 299 victories and 109 draws from 491 matches in charge.
Following his Liverpool exit, Klopp took a brief sabbatical before re-entering football as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull GmbH in January 2025. In this role, he has been responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the entire Red Bull football portfolio, which includes clubs such as RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, and Red Bull Bragantino.

Arne Slot took over from Klopp and made an immediate impact by winning the Premier League title in his debut 2024/25 season. Aldridge's Passionate Endorsement of Klopp
John Aldridge, who scored 63 goals for Liverpool during his playing career, expressed his admiration for Klopp and openness to a potential return. "We've moved on from Jurgen, but we'd love him back if Arne Slot were to go, obviously you would, because what he did for us, the passion he brought to the team, the club, and the fans was Bill Shankly-esque," Aldridge told BOYLE Sports.
Aldridge added, "If Arne Slot were to go, we'd love him to come back. But it doesn't work like that, does it? If he wanted to go to Real Madrid, then good luck to him. Good luck to him, as long as when he plays against Liverpool in the Champions League in years to come, I'd want him to play his reserves!"
The former striker also revealed that he will be working alongside Klopp in an upcoming charity match, stating, "We've got a massive charity game at Anfield in a week and a half's time and I'm on the staff with Jurgen Klopp, so I'm going to ask him!"
