Sir Keir Starmer has carried out a significant reshuffle of his Labour cabinet following the departure of Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. The changes see several high-profile figures moving to new roles within the government.
Among the most notable moves, Rachel Reeves has been appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister, taking over from Rayner. Reeves will also retain her position as Chancellor of the Exchequer, a dual role that underscores her prominence in the cabinet.
Yvette Cooper has been moved from the Home Office to become the new Foreign Secretary, replacing David Lammy who takes on the role of Defence Secretary. This marks a shift in key portfolios as the government seeks to refresh its approach to foreign and defence policy.
Other changes include Bridget Phillipson moving to the Home Office as Home Secretary, while Wes Streeting becomes the new Health Secretary. The reshuffle aims to bring fresh energy to the cabinet as Starmer prepares for the next general election.
