Starmer: 'Nobody Above Law' in Andrew Epstein Case

PM Starmer Emphasises Legal Equality in Andrew Epstein Allegations

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has firmly asserted that nobody is above the law in relation to the allegations surrounding Prince Andrew and the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Speaking during an interview on BBC Breakfast, Starmer called for anyone with relevant information to come forward and testify to the appropriate authorities.

Call for Testimony from All Parties

Starmer stated, “Anybody who has any information should testify. So whether it’s Andrew or anybody else, anybody who has got relevant information should come forward to whatever the relevant body is, in this particular case we’re talking about Epstein, but there are plenty of other cases.” He expanded on this by highlighting a broader duty in cases of violence against women and girls, adding, “Anybody who has got information relating to any aspect of violence against women and girls has, in my view, a duty to come forward, whoever they are.”

Upholding Core Legal Principles

The Prime Minister reinforced the importance of legal equality, saying, “One of the core principles in our system is that everybody is equal under the law, and nobody is above the law, and it is really important that is applied across the board.” He described this as a long-standing and crucial principle for British society, applicable in all cases, including this one. Starmer emphasised, “That is the principle. It’s a long-standing principle, it’s a very important principle of our country, our society, and it applies, and it has to apply in this case, in the same way as it would apply in any other case.”

This statement comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Prince Andrew's connections to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, with authorities in both the UK and US seeking further information. Starmer's comments underscore a commitment to transparency and justice, regardless of an individual's status or background.
