Actor Jeff Daniels has expressed hope that voters who supported Donald Trump's second presidential term face financial losses as a result. Speaking on MSNBC's podcast The Best People With Nicolle Wallace, Daniels addressed Trump supporters directly, saying: 'I hope you're losing tons of money, those of you who thought this would be OK. My question is, “What are you guys going to do about it?”'
Daniels argued that Trump's tariff policies would alienate his base once they feel the economic impact. He cited rising grocery bills and car prices as potential triggers for voter regret, asking: 'Who do I blame for that? Who do I see about that? One person.' He described the president as a 'snake-oil salesman' and noted that Trump had promised to lower the price of eggs and groceries.
The actor expressed dismay at the pace of change since Trump returned to office in January. 'We've lost decency, we've lost civility, we've lost respect for the rule of law – lost it,' he said. 'We have normalised verbal abuse on the internet. We've normalised bullying.'
Daniels, known for roles in Dumb and Dumber and The Newsroom, concluded: 'He's everything that's wrong with not just America but with being a human being.'
