Marjorie Taylor Greene Launches Scathing Attack on Fox News Over Iran War Coverage
Former Donald Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene has unleashed a blistering critique against Fox News, accusing the conservative network of disseminating pro-war propaganda through its coverage of US military operations in Iran. The former Georgia congresswoman took to social media platform X to voice her frustrations, declaring that "Fox News is now the fake news" and alleging the broadcaster is "brainwashing boomers to support what we voted against."
Conservative Criticism Mounts Against Fox's Editorial Direction
Greene's inflammatory post came as a direct response to commentary from fellow Trump ally-turned-critic Ann Coulter, who had previously expressed dissatisfaction with the network's tone during its conflict coverage. Coulter drew parallels between Fox's current Iran war reporting and its previous coverage of the 2020 election controversy, stating: "Watching Fox News assure viewers the Iran war is going SUPER well and Trump is a total stud is like watching the same network assure viewers that Dominion Voting Systems rigged the 2020 election and Trump was the winner."
This pointed remark referenced the voting machine company Dominion, which reached a substantial $787 million settlement with Fox News in 2023. During that period, several prominent Fox hosts had platformed Trump's widely debunked theory about the 2020 election being stolen, with specific allegations directed at Dominion's voting machines.
Growing Rifts Within Conservative Circles
The public criticism from Greene represents the latest manifestation of deepening fractures within conservative political and media circles. The fifty-one-year-old former congresswoman had previously severed ties with the Trump administration earlier this year, primarily over disagreements concerning the handling of documents related to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Greene resigned from her position in January after publicly challenging the administration's approach to releasing Epstein-related materials.
These divisions have continued to widen throughout recent months, particularly regarding foreign policy matters and international aid allocations. The disagreements intensified following initial US military strikes against Iran on February 28, which precipitated more than four weeks of sustained conflict and triggered significant spikes in global oil prices.
Economic Concerns and Political Betrayal Allegations
Greene expanded her critique beyond media criticism to address broader economic and political concerns, writing on X: "Americans don't give a damn about Trump building a WH ballroom or renovating the Kennedy Center as they are paying $4+ dollars per gallon for gas and nearly $6 for diesel because of another pointless foreign war." She further accused political leaders of betraying campaign promises, asserting: "Don't lecture your voters that you have to vote for them when you have intentionally failed and betrayed your campaign promises just because the other side is intolerable."
The White House responded swiftly to Greene's comments, with spokesperson David Ingle telling Fox News: "There is nothing more 'America Last' than quitting on your constituents and the MAGA movement in the middle of your term. President Trump is fighting every single day to Make America Great Again - we don't have time for quitters." This exchange highlighted the deepening schism between Greene and the administration she once vigorously supported.
Former Conservative Media Figures Join Criticism
Greene is not alone in her criticism of Fox News and the administration's foreign policy direction. Megyn Kelly, another former pro-Trump media personality, has recently turned against the conservative establishment over what she characterizes as a failure to implement promised "America First" policies. Regarding the conflict, Kelly stated: "My own feeling is no one should have to die for a foreign country. I don't think those four service members died for the United States," referencing casualties in the region.
Kelly also criticized an on-air exchange between Maria Bartiromo and Senator Lindsey Graham, during which Graham discussed military strikes in Iran and suggested Cuba might be "next." Kelly described such rhetoric as "bloodthirsty" and questioned Fox News for providing Graham with a platform to express these views.
Human and Economic Toll of Continuing Conflict
The ongoing military engagement has resulted in significant human casualties, with at least thirteen US service members killed and approximately 1,500 Iranian fatalities, including numerous children. Meanwhile, global oil markets have experienced substantial disruption due to Iran's strategic blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime passage between Iran and Oman that facilitates roughly twenty percent of worldwide oil shipments.
International markets face continued weakening as the conflict persists, though President Trump announced on Sunday evening that Iran had agreed to permit twenty additional oil cargo ships through the strait, describing this development as a "sign of respect." The geopolitical and economic ramifications of the conflict continue to unfold as media coverage and political debate intensify across conservative and liberal platforms alike.
