The pre-fight press conference for the heavyweight title bout between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois was overshadowed by a heated exchange between their representatives, turning the event into a chaotic spectacle.
Managers Clash Over Professionalism
Michael Ofo, Wardley's manager, criticised Dubois's professionalism, citing instances where Dubois prematurely ended interviews earlier in the week. Ofo's comments drew a sharp response from Dubois’s manager Riz Khan, who defended his fighter and dismissed the notion that Dubois was involved in a 'circus'. Khan emphasised that Dubois was present solely to fight.
Verbal Sparring Between Fighters
Wardley and Dubois also engaged in their own verbal sparring. Dubois referenced a previous 'dust man' comment, while Wardley questioned Dubois's inconsistent mentality, suggesting that Dubois tends to 'capitulate' under pressure.
Upcoming Title Fight
The all-British heavyweight title fight is set to take place on Saturday at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester. Wardley will defend his WBO belt against former IBF champion Dubois. The press conference highlighted the tension and high stakes leading into the bout.
