A participant from Channel 4's reality series Virgin Island has revealed he was prohibited from speaking to the therapist he slept with during the show. Dave, then 24, lost his virginity to sex surrogate Kat Slade in the first season, with the intimate moment broadcast on television.
In a 2025 interview with the Daily Mail, Dave explained that cast members were strictly instructed to cut all contact with the therapists after filming ended. 'It was explained very clearly to us that you don't stay in touch after – it's sort of two weeks, and that's it and then you move on,' he said.
Dave acknowledged the emotional difficulty of the rule, adding: 'It's not easy to just detach from feelings, but I think it's an important lesson of it to like have those feelings and then let go of them, which probably is one of the most important lessons.'
The BAFTA-nominated show follows 12 adult virgins at an intimacy retreat with sex and relationship coaches. The second series, premiering tonight at 9pm on Channel 4, features its oldest virgin yet: 35-year-old childcare practitioner Ellen.
Dave appeared in a recent reunion special, where he joked about his infamous scene: 'Obviously the biggest thing was losing my virginity, which millions of people have now seen, including my mum. Which I was not expecting.'
