UK Eurovision Entry Responds After Nul Points and Last Place

The United Kingdom's Eurovision entry, Look Mum No Computer, finished rock bottom of the scoreboard on Saturday night, continuing a run of disastrous results for the nation. The act, which failed to secure any points, has sparked the usual geopolitical conspiracy theories and calls for a rethink of the UK's approach to the contest.

This latest flop adds to a chastening week for Britons in Vienna, where Boy George's involvement in San Marino's entry failed to even qualify for the final. The UK has not won Eurovision for almost three decades, and this result places the act among the worst in the country's history.

James Newman, who represented the UK in 2021, also received nul points and finished last. He had been selected for the cancelled 2020 contest with 'My Last Breath' before entering with 'Embers' the following year. Other notable flops include Scooch, who came second from last in 2007 with 'Flying the Flag (For You)', and Electro Velvet, who scored just five points in 2015.

The UK's worst Eurovision results include Engelbert Humperdinck's 25th place in 2012 with 'Love Will Set You Free', and Michael Rice's last-place finish in 2019 with 'Bigger Than Us'. The country's last victory was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves' 'Love Shine a Light'.
