Professor Green broke down in tears during an appearance on Celebs Go Dating as he opened up about the end of his relationship with Karima McAdams. The 42-year-old rapper, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, became visibly emotional while discussing the challenges of co-parenting and its impact on his mental health.
During a session with dating experts Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn, Green admitted he felt 'uncomfortable' when a date expressed interest in him. Reflecting on his past, he said: 'When she said she fancied me I was like, "Why don't I like that". That's so strange.' He then spoke candidly about co-parenting his son with his ex-partner, saying: 'I never had a kid to not wake up to him. My dad ran. I'm not running. And it's hard to put your feelings aside to prioritise my kid.'
The musician, known for hits like Read All About It and Monster, highlighted the stigma around male emotions, stating: 'People have this assumption of men being feelingless. Why do you think more men kill themselves? It's because we don't know how to tend.' His honesty drew praise from viewers, with one writing: 'Powerful powerful powerful Stephen.'
Earlier this month, Green revealed that moving away from London had significantly improved his mental health. He said: 'Living in London, you get so used to the noise that it's easy to forget how much getting outdoors helps. That connection has had a real impact on my mental health.' Green, who was diagnosed with autism and ADHD at 40, added: 'Forty years of being me nearly killed me.'
