Accusations made against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by the chair of his charity Sentebale are 'highly misleading' and 'baseless', a source has told MailOnline. Dr Sophie Chandauka, the charity's trustee chair, claimed donors withdrew support due to the prince's reputation after he quit royal duties, and alleged Harry 'unleashed the Sussex machine' on her in a case of 'harassment and bullying at scale'.
However, royal sources close to the Duke have hit back, calling the accusations a 'deflection' and stating that the resignation of trustees and Harry was a 'direct result of the chair's mismanagement'. Claims that the prince's requests were nodded through by acolytes on the board were described as 'completely baseless'.
Dr Chandauka claimed Harry nearly derailed a fundraising polo match in April last year by insisting on bringing a Netflix camera crew without prior consent. She also alleged Meghan caused 'disruption' by turning up at short notice with tennis star Serena Williams, leading to chaotic scenes during the trophy presentation.
In an interview with Sky News, Dr Chandauka said Harry asked her to issue a statement supporting Meghan, but she refused, stating the charity 'cannot be an extension of the Sussexes'. Harry and Meghan have declined to comment publicly on the row.
