Man Charged with Murder in Hollywood Walk of Fame Dog Attack

A 55-year-old man with a history of violence has been charged with murder following a fatal group attack on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last month. Patrick Randall Perry is the fourth suspect charged in connection with the death of 37-year-old Berry Le'Mar Henderson on May 20, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Henderson was waiting for a bus near Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue when he was attacked by Perry's dog. He stabbed the animal in self-defence. Perry and three other men then chased Henderson across the street and assaulted him with a metal bat and other weapons. Deputy District Attorney Daniel Ilacqua said that after Henderson dropped the knife he used to fend off the dog, Perry picked it up and stabbed him.

The attack occurred within blocks of stars on the Walk of Fame belonging to Sylvester Stallone, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Mel Brooks and Charlie Chaplin. Surveillance footage from a nearby 7-Eleven showed the group punching and kicking Henderson. He suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after.

Henderson's sister, O'koia Nixon, said at a vigil: 'Barry was an innocent man. A man who brought no harm to anyone.' The three other suspects—Bruce Lamont Fuller Jr., 30, Isaul Hernandez, 36, and Robert Anthony Garcia, 33—were arrested on the day of the attack. Perry was arrested on May 28.

Perry has several prior convictions, including a 2024 fight outside a Church of Scientology building on the Walk of Fame. In the same year, he punched one man and hit another with his cane before ordering his dog to attack both. He avoided prison through a mental health diversion programme, arguing that he suffers from bipolar disorder stemming from his Army service from 1989 to 1993.

All four men are being held in lieu of $2 million bail. Garcia, Hernandez and Fuller are due in court on June 24 for arraignment; Perry's arraignment date has not yet been set.
