Jonathan Goodwin Settles AGT Legal Action For Millions

Jonathan Goodwin, the escapologist left paralysed during rehearsals for America's Got Talent: Extreme, has settled his legal action against the show's producers for a multi-million dollar sum. The 43-year-old suffered life-changing injuries in October 2021 when he was crushed between two burning cars at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Goodwin's lawyer, Stuart Fraenkel, had previously described the production as “rushed, chaotic” and staffed by a team lacking necessary expertise. The accident left Goodwin with a dislocated spinal cord, resulting in paraplegia, along with internal organ injuries, loss of a kidney, fractures to his legs, ribs, and shoulders, and third-degree burns.

Fremantle Media, the production company, declined to comment on the settlement. Goodwin, who appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2019 and starred in a Broadway show for six years, is now a hypnotherapist and ambassador for the Spinal Injuries Association.

His fiancée, Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington, described him as “liquid sunshine” and praised his positive attitude despite his injuries. The settlement amount has not been disclosed, but it is reported to be in the millions.
