Channel 4 has unveiled a first look at its upcoming six-part drama 'Up to No Good', starring Oscar-winning actress Glenn Close as a ruthless older woman and killer. Based on Helene Tursten's short story collections, the series follows Maud Oldcastle (Close), whose murderous past catches up with her as she seeks a second act after a lifetime of caring for her sister.
The cast includes a host of familiar faces, including Downton Abbey stars Richard E. Grant, Peter Egan, and Penelope Wilton, as well as Claudia Jessie (Bridgerton), Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), and Iain Glen (Game of Thrones). The series is produced by Morenike Williams (Killing Eve) and directed by Lee Haven Jones (The Lady).
Written by acclaimed playwrights Nina Raine and Moses Raine, the series promises a 'deliciously dark' and 'wickedly entertaining' tone, according to Channel 4's commissioning editor Rebecca Holdsworth. The story follows Maud, described as a 'hilariously brusque, cantankerous, ruthless older woman', as she is forced to confront her crimes when a suspicious young detective begins investigating a death in her building.
'Up to No Good' is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year, with further details to be announced.
