Tyson and Paris Fury have faced significant backlash after attending Donald Trump's 80th birthday celebrations at the White House. The couple shared photos and videos on Instagram, showing them smiling outside the Oval Office and exploring the West Wing, before moving to a temporary building on the front lawn for the festivities.
Social Media Backlash
Paris Fury captioned the post: "Only in America! Can't believe we are at the White House walking around, then watching the fights in Donald Trump's garden, whirlwind few days!" However, many followers were quick to criticize the couple. One user commented: "I love you guys, but I can't do this. Don't lose your Fury values." Another wrote: "Considering how the US government have treated Romani people forever, this is a bit of a kick in the teeth to the ancestry."
Political Statement
Tyson Fury wore a cap with the slogan "Donald Trump for Prime Minister" alongside a British flag, a nod to Trump's "Make America Great Again" caps. This further angered fans, with one saying: "Completely lost my respect here. How can you like and promote such a monster!" Another added: "You love God, yet you're loving the devil! Just to get yourselves in the White House... unfollowed!"
White House Visit Context
The Fury's appearance came a day after Tyson watched his brother Tommy defeat Eddie Hall in a boxing match. Tyson also expressed interest in fighting Anthony Joshua in the future. Other attendees included Mark Zuckerberg, NHL stars Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, and several UFC champions.
The Mirror has reached out to representatives for Tyson and Paris Fury for comment.
