Former TPUSA Employee Alleges Wrongful Termination in Leadership Dispute
A former employee of Turning Point USA has publicly accused the conservative youth organization of firing her after she questioned its leadership direction following the assassination of founder Charlie Kirk. Aubrey Laitsch, who worked on TPUSA's public relations team for over four years, released a detailed twelve-minute video on Thursday outlining her allegations against the group's current leadership under CEO and Chair Erika Kirk.
Allegations of Distorted Vision and Baseless Accusations
In her emotional video statement, Laitsch claimed that TPUSA's leadership has fundamentally distorted Charlie Kirk's original vision for the organization since Erika Kirk assumed control after the September 10 assassination. The former staffer described being summoned to a meeting with senior executives, including spokesman Andrew Kolvet and another unnamed executive, where she was confronted with what she characterizes as baseless allegations.
Laitsch alleges she was accused of being a disgruntled employee based on secondhand information from an Uber driver, who reportedly told a board member that his daughter was friends with a TPUSA employee who disliked Erika Kirk. According to Laitsch's account, she was terminated following this meeting despite having no prior issues with the widowed mother of two.
Longstanding Relationship and Timeline Discrepancies
The former PR staffer emphasized her longstanding relationship with Erika Kirk, noting they first met in 2013 through beauty pageant circles when Kirk participated in Miss USA events while Laitsch was involved with Miss United States. "I've known Erika for quite some time, and my thoughts about her and the idea that nobody likes her do not align whatsoever with the timeline of October or November," Laitsch stated in her video, referencing when the alleged Uber incident supposedly occurred.
Laitsch expressed particular distress about making the video public but felt compelled to speak out. "It literally breaks my heart to make this video, but I know that I owe it to Charlie and that this would be the expectation for me," she explained, referencing her admiration for the late founder.
Questioning the Official Narrative
Beyond the termination allegations, Laitsch suggested she was fired for questioning the official narrative surrounding Charlie Kirk's assassination. "I have a gut feeling that I was terminated from Turning Point because I am questioning the narrative of what happened to my role model and CEO, Charlie Kirk, on the day of his assassination," she claimed. "What is being told to us in the mainstream media just really doesn't add up to me."
The former staffer also described the traumatic period following Kirk's murder, recalling how she was "reprimanded for not being supportive enough to people" while working nonstop through what she called "an extremely traumatizing day."
Alignment with Previous Allegations
Laitsch's account aligns with similar accusations made by conservative commentator Candace Owens in late January. Owens had previously described what she termed the "Scottsdale Witch Trials" at TPUSA, alleging that executives were "dragging people into offices asking about their allegiance to Erika." Owens specifically referenced an incident involving an Uber driver's secondhand account that matched Laitsch's description.
Owens further claimed that TPUSA had laid off dedicated staff members who worked extensive hours despite raising approximately a quarter of a billion dollars following Charlie Kirk's assassination. These parallel allegations suggest broader internal tensions within the organization during its leadership transition.
Mixed Reactions and Organizational Silence
Reactions to Laitsch's video have been divided within conservative circles. Conservative comedian Bobby Sauce praised her courage on Instagram, writing "Well done, Aubrey! People like you is what made my experience with TPUSA so enjoyable. Courage is contagious!!!"
However, commentator Chris Loesch offered harsh criticism on social media platform X, stating "You are owed no sympathy. You believed and spread falsehoods about your employer. Not only is that a fire-able offense - nothing to do with your free speech rights - it's disgusting and contemptible. Shame on you." Some viewers suggested Laitsch deserved termination for allegedly leaking internal information to Owens.
TPUSA has not publicly responded to Laitsch's allegations or the earlier claims by Owens. The Daily Mail has reportedly contacted the organization for comment, but no official statement has been released at this time. The controversy highlights ongoing challenges for the conservative group as it navigates leadership changes following its founder's tragic death.
