Jodie Comer at Everton Game to Honour Father’s Retirement After 29 Years

Actress Jodie Comer attended Everton’s final home game of the season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, marking the first time she has been seen at the club’s new ground. The Killing Eve star was present to support her father, Jimmy Comer, who is retiring after 29 years as the club’s masseur.

Jimmy Comer, a hugely popular figure behind the scenes, was praised by club captain Seamus Coleman in the match programme. Coleman said: “He was one of those who helped show me what Everton meant.” The official Everton account shared footage of Jodie inside the stadium, with a caption thanking Jimmy for his service and wishing him a happy retirement.

Jodie, who hails from a family of devoted Evertonians, has previously stated she would rather see Everton win the league than receive an Academy Award. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, she reiterated that sentiment but added: “Yeah, but they better hurry up, that's all I'd say. I'll stand by it, if they hurry up.”

The 33-year-old actor also reflected on the emotional farewell to Goodison Park last year, where she delivered a message after the final men’s game. She described the occasion as “an honour” and noted that her father has been at the club since before she was born, making the history deeply personal for her family.

Jodie is currently preparing for her role in the upcoming film Death of Robin Hood and a lead role in a new HBO series by Damon Lindelof. Earlier this year, she concluded her run as Tess in Prima Facie at the Liverpool Playhouse, calling the experience “a divine moment” and thanking the city for its support.
