In a bizarre final communication months before his apparent suicide, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein wrote a paranoid email to himself discussing former President Donald Trump's knowledge of his activities with young women.
The Final Correspondence
Six months before he was found hanged at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, Epstein composed a rambling email in February 2019 that he later forwarded to author Michael Wolff. The email reveals Epstein's increasingly unstable mental state as he faced new federal sex-trafficking charges following a bombshell Miami Herald investigation.
Epstein specifically claimed that Trump had frequently visited his Palm Beach residence during the period when one of his victims worked at the Mar-a-Lago estate. However, the financier was careful to note that 'He never got a massage' during these visits.
Downplaying the Abuse
In what appears to be an attempt to minimise the severity of his crimes, Epstein wrote about his victims returning 'multiple times' for '200 dollars for a rub and tug'. He claimed there was 'No sex' and that many of the women were 'in their twenties' or worked in local massage parlours.
This correspondence emerged as Epstein faced allegations from over 60 women who said they were sexually abused by him while underage. The pressure intensified dramatically after the Miami Herald's three-part series exposed how Epstein received a controversial plea deal in 2008 from then-U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta.
Political Fallout and Historical Context
The White House has vehemently denied any wrongdoing by Trump, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt branding the email release as a politically-motivated 'smear campaign'. She pointed to Virginia Giuffre's previous statements absolving Trump of any involvement.
Trump had actually banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in October 2007 'for being a creep to his female employees', including Giuffre, who was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell while working as a spa attendant at the club in 2000 when she was just 16 years old.
Epstein concluded his email by revisiting an old Florida property dispute he had with Trump in the early 2000s, shortly before their relationship completely collapsed. The financier died in his Brooklyn jail cell in August 2019, one month after his arrest on federal sex-trafficking charges.
