New Epstein Files Include Trump Jet Travel Claims
New Epstein Files Include Trump Jet Travel Claims

A newly released batch of the so-called Epstein files includes numerous references to Donald Trump, including a claim by a senior US attorney that the president travelled on Epstein's private jet in the 1990s with a 20-year-old woman. There is no indication of whether the woman was a victim of any crime, and inclusion in the files does not imply criminal wrongdoing.

The files, released by the US Justice Department on Tuesday, contain an email from the US attorney for the southern district of New York dated 7 January 2020. It states that flight records show Trump travelled on Epstein's jet at least eight times between 1993 and 1996, including on flights where Ghislaine Maxwell was present. On one flight in 1993, the only passengers were Epstein, Trump, and a then-20-year-old redacted individual.

The release also includes details about Epstein's relationship with economist Larry Summers and a purported letter from Epstein to convicted sexual abuser Larry Nassar, which the DoJ later confirmed was a fake. The files reference Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, and include a photo of an Austrian passport with Epstein's photo but the name "Marius Fortelni" and Saudi Arabian residency.

The Justice Department stated that it released nearly 30,000 more pages of documents, adding that some contain "untrue and sensationalist claims" against Trump submitted to the FBI before the 2020 election, which it described as unfounded. Trump has consistently denied any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein's crimes.
