Channel 4 Axes Bafta-Nominated Sitcom Pushers After One Season

Channel 4 has cancelled the sitcom Pushers, created by and starring Taskmaster's Rosie Jones, after just one season. The show debuted in June 2025, with Jones earning a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy.

Pushers centred on Emily, a young woman with cerebral palsy who turns to drug dealing after her benefits are reduced. The cast also included Ryan McParland, Jon Furlong, Lynn Hunter, Rhiannon Clements, Ruben Reuter, Libby Mai, Trevor Dwyer-Lynch, and Clive Russell.

Jones co-wrote the series with Peter Fellows after the pair previously worked on a 2022 pilot titled Disability Benefits. In a statement confirming the show's axing, Channel 4 told Digital Spy: "We’re so proud of Pushers and would like to thank Rosie Jones, Peter Fellows, 2LE Media and Merman Television for their brilliant and dedicated work on the series. We look forward to working together on future projects."

The broadcaster added: "Like all broadcasters, we regularly review our programming to ensure we’re offering the right range of content for our viewers. This means making difficult decisions on which shows to rest, return or conclude."

Pushers was a hit with critics, with The Independent calling it a "madcap triumph" and The Guardian giving it three stars, though noting it "could have done with leaning a little further into the scathing satire promised by its setup." The Standard praised its "flashes of brilliance" and matter-of-fact representation of disability and Jones' sexuality.
