Newly released dashcam footage from Britney Spears' March 4 DUI arrest in Ventura County, California, shows the singer repeatedly refusing to exit her car and offering to make officers lasagna at her home. The video, published by TMZ, captures California Highway Patrol officers responding to reports of erratic driving.
Officers told Spears, 44, they smelled alcohol from her black BMW convertible and asked her to step out for a sobriety investigation. Spears declined, saying she felt “invaded” and “harassed.” When a supervisor suggested moving away from traffic to reduce attention, Spears offered an alternative: “You can come to my house. I'll make you food and lasagna, or whatever you want. I have a pool.”
After about 10 minutes, Spears exited the car and underwent field sobriety tests. A police report noted “the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage,” slurred speech, an unsteady gait, and fidgeting. Spears told officers she takes Lamictal and Prozac daily and admitted to taking Adderall that day, though a bottle found in her purse was not prescribed to her. An empty wine glass was also found in the car.
During the arrest, Spears made a reference to her mother, Lynne Spears, who was involved in a 1975 fatal accident. “My mom accidentally killed a man on a bike, but I never did that before,” Spears said, adding, “My mom tried to kill me.” She also asked officers to sit with her in the patrol car so she would not be alone.
Spears was briefly detained and later released. The incident adds to her public legal troubles following the end of her conservatorship in 2021.
