Ferdinand Hits Back at Carragher Over Boots Comment

Rio Ferdinand has fired back at Jamie Carragher by reminding him that he "used to carry my boots" when they were England teammates, escalating their feud after Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Liverpool.

The tension between the two former players boiled over following United's win at Old Trafford on Sunday. Kobbie Mainoo's goal secured a league double for United and boosted their Champions League qualification hopes, while increasing pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

The spat began when Ferdinand posted a photo of himself celebrating Mikael Silvestre's goal against Liverpool in 2004, with a dejected Carragher in the background, captioned "caption this". Carragher responded sharply, accusing Ferdinand of making sure he was in the picture of someone else's goal and suggesting he now hangs around mixed zones bothering players.

Ferdinand's Response on YouTube

Ferdinand hit back on his YouTube channel, saying: "Jamie Carragher might have woke up the wrong side of the bed. I thought it was really, really harsh. He used to be a team-mate of mine with England. He used to carry my washbag... he used to carry my boots sometimes, when he didn't get changed and he was in the stands."

Ferdinand added: "I love celebrating and he's tried to really hammer me. I don't understand why. He's spat his dummy out."

History of Clashes

The pair have a history of disagreements, with Carragher calling Ferdinand a "clown" in 2013 over his punditry on a Champions League semi-final. Despite this, Ferdinand said: "Every time I see him it's all love. I don't understand why he came with the hostility. We see each other, it's all cool."

The result marked United's first league double over Liverpool since 2015-16, intensifying the rivalry both on and off the pitch.
