Trump Shares Graphic Murder Footage in Late-Night Truth Social Rant

President Donald Trump sparked controversy by posting an unedited video of a woman being bludgeoned to death with a hammer on his Truth Social account late last night. In a lengthy accompanying post, the commander-in-chief asserted that he felt an "obligation" to share the footage, which he described as depicting a "brutal slaying."

Details of the Florida Attack

The disturbing video captures a man, identified by the Department of Homeland Security as Rolbert Joachin, repeatedly striking a car with a hammer outside a gas station in Fort Myers, Florida. When a woman emerges from the store and appears to shout at him, Joachin redirects his attention toward her, rapidly approaching while allegedly yelling about "f***ing money."

The footage shows Joachin leaping into the air and striking the woman with the hammer, then continuing to hit her repeatedly after she falls to the ground. The victim remains motionless following the assault.

Immigration Status and Political Commentary

Trump immediately connected the crime to immigration, accusing Joachin of being an undocumented immigrant. According to DHS records, Joachin is from Haiti and first entered the United States in 2022. A federal judge later issued a final removal order against him, but he was granted Temporary Protected Status, which expired in 2024.

On Truth Social, Trump branded Joachin an "animal" and claimed Temporary Protected Status was a "massively abused and fraudulent program." He argued the killing should prevent so-called "Radical Judges" from "impeding" his immigration crackdown.

"As I've said all along, if you import the Third World, you become the Third World, and that is what happened over the four years of Democrat Control," Trump wrote, suggesting former President Joe Biden allowed "mentally insane" people to enter the country.

Investigation and Victim Information

The incident occurred in early April, with Joachin later arrested through a joint effort by Fort Myers Police Department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. DHS confirmed ICE has lodged a detainer against Joachin, who will be deported regardless of the investigation's outcome.

During a pretrial hearing, Fort Myers Police Detective Laynor Rodriguez testified that Joachin confessed to the murder. Rodriguez stated Joachin wore the same clothes from a previous encounter with the victim so she would recognize him. The victim was identified as Nilufa Easmin, also known as Yasmin, a clerk at the gas station and native of Bangladesh.

Rodriguez accused Joachin of intentionally attacking Easmin's car to lure her outside. A local man named M.D. Islam told Gulf Coast News, "Everybody, like, right now is sad. You know, you not only me, not only my Bangladeshi community."

Community Response and Aftermath

The Bangladesh Association of Southwest Florida launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Easmin's two young daughters following her death. The campaign page describes Easmin as "a devoted mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her two young daughters" and notes "the loss of Easmin has created an unimaginable void in the lives of her daughters."

Trump's decision to post the graphic video without editing has raised questions about the appropriateness of sharing such content from the presidential account, particularly given its explicit nature and the ongoing investigation.
