Prisoner Escapes Hospital Twice in One Week, Taunts Police on Social Media

Police have launched a second major manhunt in just seven days after a convicted prisoner escaped from hospital custody for the second time. Daniel Boakye, a 21-year-old inmate, managed to flee from Lewisham Hospital while under the supervision of prison staff, marking his second breakout in a single week.

The Metropolitan Police have issued a stern public warning, urging citizens not to approach Boakye under any circumstances. The escape occurred at approximately 15:05 hours on Sunday, February 15, while Boakye was receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Officers pursued him but were unable to apprehend him before he exited the building.

Details of the Escapes and Criminal Background

Boakye's first escape took place last Tuesday when he went missing from hospital care. He was subsequently recaptured in Thamesmead on Wednesday and returned to HMP Feltham. However, his freedom was short-lived as he has now absconded once more.

In July 2023, Boakye was sentenced to six years and five months in prison for orchestrating a series of violent knifepoint robberies that netted approximately £115,000 in cryptocurrency. Three accomplices were also imprisoned in connection with these crimes. Boakye was scheduled for deportation to Ghana in the coming weeks prior to his latest escape.

Social Media Taunts and Police Investigation

A video circulating on social media platforms allegedly features Boakye boasting about his escape. The clip, reportedly filmed on a London bus, shows an individual wearing a black jacket similar to the one Boakye was described as wearing during his escape. In the video, the person can be heard saying, 'f*** the jakes [police], we're cutting out, catch me outside you p*******s fam'.

While police have not confirmed the identity of the individual in the video, they are treating it as a significant lead in their investigation. The Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified and is conducting a thorough review of the incident to understand how both escapes were possible.

Physical Description and Public Appeal

Boakye is described as:

  • Black ethnicity
  • Medium height
  • Slim build
  • Unknown hairstyle
  • Last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket

Police are urging anyone with information about Boakye's whereabouts to contact them immediately on 999, quoting reference CAD4005/15FEB. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Musical Connections and Background

Outside of his criminal activities, Boakye was known in the music industry under the stage name Dsavv. He was a member of the rap collective 'OFB' (Original Farm Boys), which originated from the Broadwater Farm Estate in Tottenham, North London. His musical catalogue includes tracks such as 'Prince of the O' and 'Still Want More'.

The Metropolitan Police have emphasized that their primary focus remains locating and apprehending Boakye as quickly as possible to ensure public safety. The repeated escapes from hospital custody have raised serious questions about security protocols when prisoners require medical treatment outside of correctional facilities.
