A security guard previously hailed as a 'hero' for confronting an alleged thief earlier this year has been caught on camera again, taking matters into his own hands in a series of aggressive incidents at a Melbourne shopping centre.
Violent Confrontation with Alleged Thief
The guard was filmed striking a man in the throat after the individual threw cans of Jack Daniel's whiskey at an elderly woman, forcing her to seek refuge inside her vehicle. According to a witness who spoke to news.com.au, the alleged perpetrator had stolen the alcohol cans from an Aldi supermarket in Melbourne before the security guard stepped in.
'She was terrified, literally hiding in her car,' the witness recounted. 'The bloke with the cans was antagonising security, too. He had it coming.'
New Video Emerges of Bicycle Incident
Additional footage has now surfaced, showing the same security guard hurling a bicycle at two men outside the entrance of Altona Meadows Central Square shopping centre in Melbourne's western suburbs. The video, believed to be from March of last year, captures the guard throwing the bike with one arm before confronting the pair.
A shopper who shared the video commented, 'Cops were everywhere... I showed them the video at the time. No clue what started it.'
Public Reaction and Social Media Praise
Australians have taken to social media to commend the guard for what they describe as 'common sense law and order,' with many advocating for him to receive a pay increase. One supporter remarked, 'Exactly what we need, more security guards that aren't afraid to do their job and actually sort these people out instead of being intimidated by them.'
Another added, 'Consequence for actions. Something that has long been forgotten. Well done to the security guard.'
Guard's Role and Official Response
The hero is understood to be the only full-time security guard at Altona Meadows Central Square shopping centre. The Daily Mail has reached out to the shopping centre management for comment, but no official statement has been released at this time.
These incidents highlight ongoing debates about vigilante justice and the role of security personnel in maintaining public safety, as the guard's actions continue to polarise opinions while garnering significant public support.
