Mayor Faces Questions Over Cycling Safety After Two Deaths

Boris Johnson faced questions about the safety of London's cycling superhighways during Mayor's Question Time, following the deaths of two cyclists. The mayor was pressed on what more could be done to prevent further casualties on the capital's roads.

The issue was raised after Coroner Mary Hassell called for additional safety measures following the deaths of Brian Dorling, 58, from Hounslow, and French student Philippine De Gerin-Ricard, 20, in east London. The coroner's comments have intensified scrutiny of the cycling infrastructure.

Labour Assembly Member John Biggs and Green Party representative Jenny Jones were among those questioning the mayor. The exchange was featured in a report by BBC London transport correspondent Tom Edwards.
