Liverpool Park Event Evacuated Following Disturbance and Injuries
Emergency services were called to Newsham Park in Liverpool on Friday evening, April 3, after a significant disturbance erupted during an event, leading to the evacuation of crowds and two men being rushed to hospital with head injuries. The incident occurred just after 9pm, prompting a large-scale response from police and ambulance crews.
Police Confirm Evacuation and Injuries
Merseyside Police has officially confirmed that officers were dispatched to Newsham Park Hospital following reports of a large disturbance at the premises. According to a statement, the police received a call just after 9pm detailing the incident during an event at the park. Two men sustained head injuries and were transported to hospital for urgent medical treatment. Police patrols in the area facilitated the evacuation of the premises to ensure public safety.
Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic atmosphere, with at least 15 police cars and multiple ambulances lining the streets. Photos from the event show attendees leaving the area, walking past emergency vehicles as the situation unfolded. One individual present at the rave told the Liverpool Echo, "I have no idea what's happened. They just stopped the music and told us to get out."
Event Halted Prematurely
The D.O.D event, a sold-out gathering at the Asylum venue within Newsham Park, was scheduled to conclude at 10pm but was forced to end early due to the disturbance. Attendees reported that the music was abruptly stopped, and they were instructed to leave immediately. DJ D.O.D, a Brit-nominated, multi-platinum house music producer, addressed the incident on his Instagram story, expressing regret over the premature conclusion.
He stated, "Liverpool, I'm so sorry the show was cut short. There were multiple incidents in the crowd which led to the police shutting down the show. This is the last thing I wanted, but your safety means more to me than carrying on the show. Music is about coming together. Hope to see you all again soon."
The rapid response from emergency services highlights the seriousness of the situation, with authorities prioritizing crowd control and medical assistance. The investigation into the cause of the disturbance is ongoing, as police work to determine the circumstances that led to the injuries and evacuation.
