The two daughters of a woman allegedly murdered by her former husband have revealed they were waiting at an airport terminal while her body lay beside a freeway thousands of miles away. Eva Lasrini, aged 53, was reported missing on April 2 after she failed to arrive in Bali, where she had planned to meet her daughters Adeline and Vanya at Denpasar Airport.
Harrowing Airport Wait for Missing Mother
Her remains were later discovered by a roadside in Little River, approximately 44 kilometres south-west of Melbourne, last Wednesday. Adeline recounted the distressing hours they spent anticipating their mother's arrival at the airport. The sisters attempted repeatedly to contact her by phone but were unable to get through.
'I'm asking "Mum, are you coming to Bali or not?" And she's not answering any more,' Adeline informed 9News. 'We waited until midnight and my mother didn't show up anymore. My mother is strong, beautiful and so loyal to her family.'
Ex-Husband Arrested at Melbourne Airport
Ms Lasrini's ex-husband, Allen Keys, was apprehended at Melbourne Airport last Friday before he could board an international flight. He has been charged with her murder. The daughters contacted the 67-year-old when their mother did not appear in Bali, and he allegedly told them he was overseas and unaware of her whereabouts.
In the period leading up to Ms Lasrini's death, Keys published a sequence of social media posts that disparaged Western women and extolled relationships with Asian women. 'It's funny, Western girls see an old perv, Asian girls see opportunity,' he wrote in one post.
Another stated: 'Western females should realise that when they come to Bali their value is reduced substantially and nobody will put up with their s***.' A third post read: 'I would rather be chasing Asian girls than stuck at home with a useless, sexless white wife but everyone to their own.'
Social Media Activity Before Disappearance
On April 1, the day Ms Lasrini missed her flight, Keys posted photographs and videos online with another Balinese woman, captioning them: 'New girl, new life.' He also shared videos making derogatory jokes about women, along with footage featuring right-wing 'manosphere' creator Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan.
According to Adeline, Ms Lasrini had been labouring in a warehouse to earn money to bring her two daughters to Australia for university education. Her daughters described how they waited for her to disembark the plane in Bali, but she never arrived. She was subsequently found deceased in Little River, about 44 kilometres south-west of Melbourne.
Detectives intercepted the 67-year-old at Melbourne Airport last Friday as he attempted to board an international flight. Friends of Ms Lasrini have posted tributes to the mother-of-two on social media, indicating she relocated to Australia for love.
Tributes and Fundraising for Daughters
'Eva met her husband in Bali and fell in love,' Gail Porter wrote on a GoFundMe page. 'That love is what brought her to Melbourne, not for opportunity or financial gain, but to build a life with someone she trusted and cared for deeply. She came to Australia for love, and deserved a life filled with safety, happiness, and peace.'
At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page has collected $11,000 of a $20,000 target to assist the daughters in travelling to Melbourne. Keys appeared at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday, where he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to next appear on August 10.
