Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing Detail Explosive Post-Birth Rows in Candid New Docuseries

Sophie Habboo has candidly discussed the intense arguments she experienced with her husband, Jamie Laing, following the birth of their son Ziggy. This revelation comes ahead of the release of their new television series, Raising Chelsea, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in April.

Raw Reality of Parenting Captured on Camera

The three-part docuseries will follow the former Made in Chelsea stars as they navigate the challenging transition into parenthood. It documents their journey from early pregnancy through labour and the arrival of their baby son, Ziggy, who is now nearly four months old. The series promises an unfiltered look at the difficulties of becoming new parents, including a series of heated rows in the immediate days after welcoming their first child.

Sophie admitted, "Our filming team captured everything during the nine months of production. There were moments I assumed would be edited out, but watching it back, it's all there—it's real life." She described the pressures of balancing parenthood with work and home renovations as "constant, nearly a breakdown every day."

Jamie Laing's Fear of Divorce Amidst Tensions

Jamie added to the narrative, revealing, "At one point, I thought Sophie was going to divorce me! It felt like it was either divorce or one of us might end up harming the other. There was a particular day where I genuinely believed it was over." Despite these tensions, the couple is committed to showcasing their authentic experiences for their audience.

Jamie explained their motivation, stating, "We aimed to create a show that isn't just about drama but is wholesome, humorous, and portrays a true, raw journey. We decided to be completely real, unlike many who claim to show their lives but hold back. Having cameras around became normal for us, so we captured everything, despite the fear of judgment."

Sophie echoed this sentiment, noting, "As a reality TV fan, I've noticed many shows feel staged. We wanted to bring back that rawness by pretending the cameras weren't there."

Addressing Postpartum Pressures and Social Media Scrutiny

Sophie also spoke out against the unrealistic expectations placed on new mothers regarding "snapping back" after childbirth. She highlighted the double-edged sword of public judgment, saying, "Whether you've snapped back or not, people will comment. It shouldn't even be a topic. My focus is on Ziggy, and that's liberating—I speak more kindly to myself now."

The series, commissioned by Executive Director Sean Doyle and produced by Dorothy St Pictures in association with Jampot Productions, follows the couple's journey since their 2023 wedding. It explores Sophie's pregnancy and the balancing act of their professional lives.

Backlash and Gratitude in New Motherhood

This comes after Sophie expressed gratitude for Jamie in a social media post, sharing sweet glimpses into her life as a new mother. However, Jamie previously faced criticism for a post that fans deemed insensitive, setting "unrealistic expectations" by showcasing Sophie creating a "magical Christmas" just three weeks postpartum. Critics argued it overlooked the challenges many new mothers face without similar resources or support.

In response, Sophie has embraced her role, posting affectionate images of Ziggy and Jamie, and the couple even checked into a luxury postpartum wellness retreat shortly after Ziggy's birth in December 2025. The retreat offered 24-hour babysitting and gourmet meals, highlighting their privileged approach to early parenthood.

Firm Boundaries and Future Plans

Before Ziggy's arrival, Sophie set strict boundaries, vehemently stating on their podcast, "No one's kissing my baby. If anyone tries, I'll punch them in the face to protect him from germs." Jamie humorously recalled suggesting exposing the baby to dirt for immunity, which Sophie dismissed as impractical for a newborn.

Raising Chelsea will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting April 2, offering viewers an intimate look at the couple's parenting journey with all its ups and downs.
