King Charles III has vowed to persevere with his state visit to the US today despite an apparent assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. The monarch is determined to 'keep calm and carry on' — and if the Government wants him to travel, 'that's exactly what he will do', sources told the Daily Mail.
Royal Commitment to Duty
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King and Queen Camilla wanted to 'do their duty' and they are expected to arrive as planned this afternoon. However, an urgent security review is under way after the incident in Washington on Saturday, and 'modest operational adjustments' will be made to the programme.
Public Opinion
Now you can have your say in the Daily Mail's latest poll – do you think the state visit should still be going ahead? In the last poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Is Sara Cox the right choice to replace Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2?' Out of more than 6,000 votes, 67 per cent of you said 'yes' and 33 per cent said 'no'.
