Katie Price has publicly addressed her seventh driving ban for the first time, expressing intense frustration over the situation. The revelation came during the latest episode of her podcast, the Katie Price Show, where she detailed how she discovered the ban through media reports rather than official correspondence.
Administrative Blunder Leads to Ban
Price, 47, explained that a hired assistant failed to update her driving license and address changes, leading to missed letters about a speeding incident. A car registered in her name was caught driving at 80mph in North Yorkshire, resulting in a six-month ban and a £1,000 fine. She stated, "I'm actually f**king furious about this new driving ban because I'm so up to date with everything. The lady working with me was supposed to handle my post, but she didn't follow through on changing my address."
Discovery Through the Press
Price emphasized that she only learned of the ban from newspaper articles, saying, "I found out I was banned by the papers. Everyone around me said, 'You're banned,' but I didn't believe it until I saw it in print. If I had received the letters, I would have responded to them." This administrative oversight has left her feeling livid and considering an appeal, though she acknowledged the ban's relatively short duration.
Life Adjustments and Positive Outlook
Despite the disqualification, Price remains optimistic about her circumstances. She noted that her current living situation in a new home allows for easier access to amenities without a car. "Where I live now, I can walk to the shop, the kids' schools are 10 minutes away, and I have a train station nearby. It's not like in the past where I was stuck in the middle of nowhere," she shared.
She also highlighted positive activities during the ban, such as training in her home gym, learning to cook more meals, and spending time in her garden. Price added, "I'm not bothered over the disqualification. Six months will go quick, and I'm focusing on staying positive."
Insurance Concerns and Future Plans
Reflecting on the ban, Price questioned who would insure her after seven disqualifications, but she remains unfazed. "Yes, I love my sports cars, but just getting from A to B... If I have to drive a Fiat 500, which I think are cute, then I will. I'm not ashamed of anything," she declared. This pragmatic approach underscores her resilience in the face of legal setbacks.
Legal Background and Previous Bans
Price was first disqualified from driving in 2010, with her latest penalty handled through the Single Justice Procedure earlier this month. The incident involved a Ford Capri caught on a speed camera on October 15, leading to charges of speeding and failing to provide driver identification. Court documents reveal that police sent letters about the incident, but no response was received, resulting in a guilty verdict.
Magistrate Claire Sagar presided over the case, ordering Price to pay a £660 fine, £120 in costs, and a £264 victim surcharge. This marks another chapter in her ongoing driving-related legal issues, highlighting the consequences of administrative neglect and repeated offenses.
