Kaley Cuoco Reveals Botox Mishap on The Big Bang Theory Set
Kaley Cuoco's Botox Mishap on The Big Bang Theory

Kaley Cuoco, renowned for her role as Penny on the iconic CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has candidly shared a personal anecdote about a Botox treatment that went awry during the show's production. The actress, now 40, portrayed the free-spirited neighbor to the socially awkward quartet of Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, and Raj from 2007 to 2019, a role that catapulted her to fame.

Botox Blunder on Set

In a recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with Amanda Hirsch, Cuoco disclosed that she opted for Botox injections midway through the series, aiming for subtle enhancements. "I just wanted to do a little Botox. I did my forehead and all this stuff. And I was so excited," she recounted. However, the excitement quickly turned to dismay when she returned to the set and realized she could no longer move her forehead, a crucial element for her comedic timing and facial expressions as Penny.

"It was the same week there is a scene where I have to, like, really do this thing with my face [and] I could not move," Cuoco explained. "I was literally doing these jokes, and nothing moved. My forehead didn’t move, and it looked like I was trying to move it." She expressed astonishment that no one on set commented on the noticeable issue, leading her to reflect, "I couldn’t believe how bad it looked. And that’s when I thought, 'whoa', like we don’t need the… let’s calm it down."

Despite this mishap, Cuoco continues to use Botox selectively, avoiding her forehead and focusing on areas like the outer eyes and neck, stating, "I love a little Botox."

Fiancé's Unfamiliarity with the Show

Cuoco also revealed a humorous personal detail during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which airs on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday, February 13, at 10.40 pm. She joins guests Stephen Graham, Adrian Lester, and Leo Woodall on the episode. The actress, who announced her engagement to Ozark actor Tom Pelphrey in August 2024, shared that her fiancé had never heard of or watched The Big Bang Theory.

"He had no idea about it when we met," Cuoco told host Graham Norton. "The first time I met Tom’s family his mom’s partner kept calling me 'Penny'. I didn’t say anything because I thought it was sweet, but I could see Tom looking confused." She added that Pelphrey apologized afterward, unaware of the reference, and he still hasn't seen the series to this day.

Potential Return as Penny

Fans of the show might have reason to celebrate, as Cuoco recently hinted at a possible comeback for her character Penny. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in January, when asked about appearing in the upcoming spin-off series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, she responded with a teasing smile and widened eyes, sparking excitement among viewers.

Reflecting on her time on The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco has often praised the experience for transforming her life. "It changed my life, professionally, personally. What a journey," she said. "I learned so much. I met Chuck Lorre. I was a life-long lifer. Like, I don’t know. I’ll never forget my time on that show. And I do believe everything came from that."

This revelation adds a new layer to Cuoco's legacy, blending personal anecdotes with her enduring connection to a beloved television character.
