Jeremy Clarkson's Tip Helped Contestant Win £1 Million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Retired IT analyst Roman Dubowski has become the seventh £1 million winner on ITV's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, crediting host Jeremy Clarkson's advice for his success. Dubowski, from Stockport, navigated questions on Saturn's rings, sea creatures, and the Black Death, using the 50/50 lifeline on the final question only after Clarkson's guidance.

Clarkson advised Dubowski to avoid using the 50/50 lifeline when he had no idea about the answer, as it would leave two unknown options. Dubowski followed this tip, using the lifeline on the million-pound question only because he was confident in his knowledge. He praised Clarkson's hosting, despite previous criticism of the former Top Gear presenter being unhelpful with the Ask the Host lifeline.

Dubowski attributed his win partly to a book, Trevor Montague's A to Z of Everything: A Compendium of General Knowledge, which he called 'very good.' He urged future contestants to read it and to stay calm, speaking slowly to avoid rushing into answers. He applied twice before being selected for the show.

Dubowski plans to spend his winnings on travel, including trips to South America or New Zealand, and a new house with a driveway. He also intends to try again on BBC Radio 4's Brain of Britain, having previously reached the semi-final. 'The win didn't sink in until later. It felt unreal,' he said.
