Isabel May, the actress who portrayed Elsa Dutton in the critically acclaimed Yellowstone prequel 1883, recently showcased a striking transformation from her on-screen prairie persona to real-life Hollywood elegance. The 25-year-old veteran star attended the Los Angeles premiere of Scream 7 at Paramount Pictures Studios on Wednesday evening, where she has a role in the film.
From Wild West to Red Carpet Glamour
In 1883, which premiered on Paramount+ in 2021, May wore traditional prairie attire as she journeyed westward with her parents, played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, in Taylor Sheridan's violent frontier origin story. The series followed the Dutton family's treacherous trek through the American West toward Montana in search of a better future, featuring McGraw and Hill as James and Margaret Dutton alongside Sam Elliott's grizzled cowboy Shea Brennan.
However, at the Scream 7 premiere, May appeared dramatically different, wearing a flirty black off-the-shoulder minidress with her golden locks styled in soft waves and complemented by high heels. The Los Angeles native joined co-stars including Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell at the event, marking a stark contrast to her 1883 character who fought for survival alongside pioneers.
The Yellowstone Universe Expands
1883 served as a spin-off from the popular drama series Yellowstone, with a logline describing it as following the Dutton family's journey west through the Great Plains toward untamed America. The project was greenlit after creator Taylor Sheridan signed a deal with ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group to develop new shows.
Faith Hill expressed in a statement that she felt humbled and honored to work with Sheridan's team, calling it the opportunity of a lifetime to bring the strong female character Margaret Dutton to life. Sam Elliott added that he was honored to be part of a story exploring the classic struggles of man against man, nature, and himself.
May's Career Evolution
