Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has made a defiant statement amid escalating tensions with Israel, declaring that "God is our protector" as the militant group faces increasing military pressure.
In a televised address from Beirut, Nasrallah sought to rally support among his followers, framing the conflict as a divinely sanctioned struggle. His remarks come as cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces intensify, stoking fears of a wider regional war.
Growing Tensions on the Lebanon-Israel Border
The situation along the Lebanon-Israel border has deteriorated sharply in recent weeks, with near-daily rocket fire and airstrikes. Analysts warn that the violence could spiral into a full-scale confrontation, further destabilising an already volatile region.
Nasrallah's speech appeared designed to bolster morale among Hezbollah's supporters while sending a message of resilience to Israel. "Our enemies should know that we are under God's protection," he declared, dismissing Israeli threats as insignificant.
International Concerns Mount
The United Nations and several Western governments have expressed alarm at the rising hostilities. A UN spokesperson called for "immediate de-escalation", warning that the conflict could have devastating humanitarian consequences for Lebanon, which is already grappling with economic collapse.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials have vowed to continue military operations against Hezbollah, which they classify as a terrorist organisation. The group's growing arsenal of precision-guided missiles has become a particular concern for Israeli defence planners.
As the rhetoric hardens on both sides, observers fear that miscalculation could trigger a conflict neither party truly wants but which both appear increasingly willing to risk.
