HBO Max UK Launch Transforms London with Epic TV Show Installations
London has been transformed into a cinematic wonderland as HBO Max celebrates the official launch of its streaming service in the United Kingdom. The citywide takeover, which began this week, features iconic scenes and installations from beloved HBO series, drawing crowds eager to immerse themselves in television nostalgia.
Piccadilly Lights Hosts Immersive Experience
At the heart of the celebrations, The Venue at Piccadilly Lights has been illuminated with legendary scenes from Friends, captivating passersby. Inside, a sprawling 6,500 square foot experience allows visitors to explore meticulously recreated sets from hit shows. Fans can step into the lobby of The White Lotus, Carrie's apartment from Sex and the City, and even sit upon the Iron Throne from House of the Dragon.
The installation also showcases authentic costumes and props from titles including The Last of Us and Euphoria, brought to life with cutting-edge projection mapping and interactive moments. Outside, Londoners have gathered at a replica of the Friends sofa for hourly choreographed performances of the show's beloved theme tune, creating a festive atmosphere.
Citywide Takeover Features Themed Treats and Installations
Across London, additional installations are appearing in key locations such as Leicester Square and Potters Fields Park near Tower Bridge. In Leicester Square, a roaming HBO Max food truck is serving themed treats, including Friends-inspired biscuits made using Phoebe's grandmother's recipe, White Lotus Tropical Smoothies, and elaborate House of the Dragon themed chocolate eggs.
Visitors have also been taking photographs beside the park's Batman and Harry Potter statues, as the takeover delivers a surge of TV nostalgia to the capital. The experience is free to enter, encouraging widespread participation from both locals and tourists.
House of the Dragon Takes Over Potters Fields Park
On Thursday, the celebrations will reach new heights at Potters Fields Park, where a colossal House of the Dragon installation is scheduled to tower over the area. Enthusiasts will be able to view the imposing Balerion dragon skull and Iron Throne up close, with opportunities to step forward and "claim the throne" against the dramatic backdrop of Tower Bridge.
This installation is part of a broader effort to honour the platform's most cherished worlds, characters, and storytelling moments, signaling the official launch of HBO Max in the UK on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
