Former TOWIE Star Jordan Wright Discovered Deceased in Thailand Drainage Ditch
Jordan Wright, a former cast member of the popular ITV reality series The Only Way Is Essex, was found dead in a drainage ditch in Thailand, an inquest has revealed. The 33-year-old, originally from Stanford-le-Hope in Essex, was discovered on 14 March this year in Phuket province, with his death confirmed during a hearing at Chelmsford Coroner's Court on Tuesday.
Details Emerge from Inquest Hearing
Court co-ordinator Matthew Austin informed the inquest that Mr Wright "was spending time in Thailand" and "was discovered in a drainage ditch" off Bang Thao 2 Alley, Choeng Thale sub-district, Thalang district. Following the tragic discovery, his body was repatriated to Essex, where a post-mortem examination was conducted at Basildon Hospital. The preliminary cause of death remains pending, awaiting toxicology results.
Coroner's Statement and Investigation
Essex senior coroner Lincoln Brookes opened and adjourned the inquest, with a substantive hearing scheduled for 14 September this year. The coroner expressed his condolences, stating: "I do offer his family, friends and loved ones my deepest condolences on this tragic loss of life." Police Lieutenant Colonel Suthirak Chuthong of the Choeng Thale Police Station provided additional details, noting that hotel records showed Wright had checked in alone and was due to check out on 13 March, but staff reported he never did so.
Reality TV Career and Tributes
Wright was known for appearing on the ITV reality show in 2018 as well as on MTV's Ex On The Beach. Tributes poured in on social media, including from fellow TOWIE star Chloe Brockett, who wrote: "Rest in peace Jordan" in the comment section of his last Instagram post. The case continues to unfold as authorities await further test results to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
