Egypt Sherrod Announces New Public Speaking Career Following HGTV Show Cancellation
HGTV personality Egypt Sherrod has revealed her next professional move, eight months after her popular television series Married to Real Estate was unexpectedly cancelled by the network. The 49-year-old real estate broker is now available for booking as a public speaker through the boutique agency KBC Speaks, which connects influential speakers with audiences seeking transformation.
From Real Estate to the Stage: A New Chapter Begins
Sherrod, described as a trailblazer, mentor, and advocate for women's empowerment, will address topics including building legacy through leadership and entrepreneurship, marriage, money and mindset, purpose-driven reinvention, and scaling a business with heart and impact. She shared the career update on social media alongside a dramatic video showing her confidently walking onto a stage before transforming into a phoenix, symbolising rebirth and renewal.
'And so it begins… The truest chapter,' she captioned the upload, hinting at a fresh start in her professional journey.
Fans enthusiastically responded to the announcement, flooding the comments with messages of support. One admirer wrote, 'Goosebumps! This woman inspires me so much and I know I'm not alone,' while another added, 'So excited for you!' The overwhelming positive reaction underscores Sherrod's significant influence and connection with her audience.
Background: The Cancellation of Married to Real Estate
The transition to public speaking follows a turbulent period for Sherrod and her husband, Mike Jackson. Last year, they learned that their highly popular HGTV show, Married to Real Estate, was among the programmes shelved by the network. The series, which launched in 2022, followed the couple as they balanced personal and professional lives while helping clients in Atlanta, Georgia, secure their dream homes.
The show concluded its fourth season in May 2025, with the third season attracting an impressive 16.6 million viewers. Sherrod previously disclosed that the cancellation news arrived while she and Jackson were on vacation. In a joint statement posted on their social media accounts, she expressed disappointment but gratitude, saying, 'Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we're met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate.'
She continued, 'While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four incredible seasons. Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive.'
Professional Ventures and Personal Resilience
Sherrod serves as the CEO of the Egypt Sherrod Real Estate Group, while Jackson owns Jackson Draper Renovations. Both have previously served as judges on HGTV's Rock the Block and competed in the show's third season. Notably, Jackson has also joined KBC Speaks as a speaker, focusing on construction and renovation, career reinvention, creative hustle, and brand building.
Despite professional setbacks, Sherrod has demonstrated remarkable resilience. In January, she revealed a personal challenge when a piece of marble fell on her foot, shattering two toes in a freak accident. She recounted, 'I had to step away from the world for the past five weeks to focus fully on healing after surgery. It's been a scary road, but I'm still standing and still on the mend.'
She added with determination, 'Now here's the wild part… just as I finally got back on my feet last week, a literal piece of marble fell on my foot and shattered two of my toes. TWO. The devil is absolutely a liar.' Sherrod remains optimistic, vowing to leave negative energy behind as she moves forward into the new year, stating, 'This still happened in 2025, the year of the snake, so I'm rebuking all of this energy for 2026, the year of the horse. No carryover. None.'
This new public speaking venture marks a significant pivot in Sherrod's career, leveraging her expertise in real estate and entrepreneurship to inspire and empower audiences nationwide.
