Strictly Star Dianne Buswell Celebrates First Week as New Mum with Baby Bowden
Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has marked her first week as a new mother by sharing intimate family moments on social media. The 36-year-old dancer took to Instagram on Saturday with a tender photograph cradling her newborn son, Bowden Mark Richard Sugg, who was born on March 16.
Heartwarming Family Moments Shared Online
In her initial post, Dianne penned a caption that read: 'Our first weekend of many together my little Bowie. P.S. Can confirm he did not inherit my toe thumb.' She followed this with a story update showcasing partner Joe Sugg embracing his paternal role, treating the new mum to breakfast in bed. A snapshot of a bowl of fruit and yoghurt was accompanied by the text: 'When daddy makes you breakfast in bed'.
Earlier in the week, on Thursday, Dianne had posted an adorable snap to her Instagram Stories, expressing: 'These last few days have been the most magical time of my life.' The couple officially announced their son's arrival on Wednesday, sharing that his middle names honour Dianne's father Mark and Joe's late grandfather Richard, who passed away in 2021.
Strictly Co-Stars Flood with Congratulations
The joyful news prompted an outpouring of well-wishes from Dianne's Strictly colleagues. Vicky Pattison exclaimed: 'Omg!!!! Congratulations guys!!! He is Perfect.' Dianne and Joe, who met during the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing, revealed their pregnancy in September with a creative video set to Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer'. The clip featured the couple painting a canvas that depicted two stick figures holding hands with a baby, announcing they were expecting a son due in 2026.
Notably, Dianne became the first professional in Strictly's history to compete while pregnant during the 2025 series. Her partner, actor Stefan Dennis, was forced to withdraw due to injury, sparking rumours that her pregnancy was the real reason. Dianne promptly addressed these claims on Instagram, stating: 'Just to clarify as I have had lots of people msg me thinking this is a cover up for me being not able to dance!? Firstly we wouldn't lie especially about somebody being sick! And secondly I am fine, yes I am pregnant but I'm also very capable and feeling really good!'
She added that protocols exist for professional injuries or illnesses, and producers had contingency plans in place, with sources confirming the show's priority was her health and wellbeing.

In the months leading up to the pregnancy announcement, Dianne had hinted at her desire to start a family. In May, she told The Sun: 'I would like to have children, 100 per cent. Joe and I love kids, and that's definitely something that we would absolutely love. I haven't really thought about how many I would like. It will definitely happen.' She acknowledged that her demanding showbiz career, including winning the Glitterball Trophy with Chris McCausland in 2024, had previously delayed these plans.
