Glambot Director Cole Walliser Makes Red Carpet Comeback After Email Controversy

Filmmaker and content creator Cole Walliser, the director behind the famous Glambot slow-motion red carpet videos, has returned to the spotlight after becoming embroiled in controversy over resurfaced emails. The 44-year-old, who shot to fame in 2016 with his high-speed celebrity captures, made his grand return at the Actor Awards on Sunday night, marking his first major red carpet appearance since the scandal erupted.

The Controversial Email Exchange

Walliser faced intense scrutiny after a Reddit user uploaded what appeared to be a 2019 email exchange between the director and potential client Yinka Animashaun. In the messages, Animashaun inquired about booking Walliser's Glambot services for a wedding, but was met with what many described as condescending and unprofessional responses.

In one alleged email, Walliser wrote: 'Just so you are aware the Glambot is a camera system and personnel used by a network television station for one of the biggest red carpets of the year. It is not cheap, if you feel like something like this might be within your budget range, then I am happy to discuss further.'

When Animashaun confirmed the service would be within her budget, Walliser allegedly responded that he didn't believe her without having quoted a fee, noting that hiring him and his crew could cost between $10,000 and $1 million. The exchange concluded with Walliser allegedly writing: 'If you wanted to know how much it costs you just needed to ask, you don't need to pretend you are going to book it.'

Walliser's Public Apology

Following the backlash, Walliser broke his silence in a video posted to his Instagram, acknowledging that the tone in his emails was 'dismissive and curt.' He explained that in 2019, he was overwhelmed handling all aspects of his business alone without a team.

'The tone in these emails was dismissive and curt and that is not OK,' Walliser told his followers. 'In 2019, I didn't have a team around me, it was just myself. I edited every single video. I answered every single email, and I was overwhelmed. But that is not an excuse. Everything lands on me.'

Walliser also addressed allegations of racism, stating: 'I think the hardest part about all of this is being labeled racist. I'm half Chinese and growing up, issues of identity, race and belonging deeply affected me and I would never intend to inflict that onto anybody else.'

The Grammys Absence and Actor Awards Return

The controversy appeared to impact Walliser's professional engagements, as he was notably absent from the 2026 Grammy Awards last month. E! News shared behind-the-scenes clips of celebrities using the Glambot during the red carpet, with many users pointing out Walliser's absence.

However, several weeks later, Walliser made his triumphant return at the Actor Awards, capturing celebrities in his signature slow-motion style. He announced his comeback on social media with the message: 'COMING IN HOT TO THE ACTOR AWARDS,' accompanied by video of him jumping for joy on the red carpet.

Mixed Reactions from Fans and Critics

The response to Walliser's return has been largely positive, with many fans expressing excitement in the comments section. One supporter wrote: 'YAYYY YOU'RE BACK,' while another added: 'Missed you !! Glad to see you back.'

Influencer Hayley Baylee also reunited with Walliser on the red carpet, posting a video with the caption: 'We meet again... GlamBot.' Walliser commented on the video: 'YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT ISSSSS.'

However, not everyone has forgiven the director. Some critical comments included: 'Time for you to humble yourself,' and 'time for you to learn customer service and stop thinking yourself as a celebrity?' Another user posted: 'time for you to quit social media!!!!!'

Moving Forward

In his apology video, Walliser acknowledged areas for improvement, stating: 'I'd like to think that I have grown a lot in the past seven years and I always want to treat everybody with respect that they deserve, but clearly more could be done and I can do better. And so that's a thing that I want to focus on improving and just working towards being better.'

The Actor Awards appearance marks Walliser's official return to the red carpet circuit where he first gained fame for his innovative slow-motion celebrity videos. While the email controversy sparked significant backlash, his mostly positive reception at the awards suggests many fans are willing to give him another chance as he works to rebuild his professional reputation.
