Amanda Holden's Surprise Pub Visit Celebrates Farming Choir's Golden Buzzer
In a heartwarming display of support, Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden surprised Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone Farmers Choir at their pub viewing party this weekend. The unexpected visit came just hours after the television personality awarded the agricultural collective the coveted Golden Buzzer during Saturday's emotional episode of the hit ITV talent show.
Emotional Performance Earns Coveted Golden Buzzer
The Hawkstone Farmers Choir, comprising thirty-two farmers and rural workers from across the country, delivered a profoundly moving rendition of Elbow's uplifting anthem 'One Day Like This' during their audition. The harmonious performance, featuring members aged between twenty-seven and seventy-four, visibly moved the judging panel and audience alike, with tears flowing freely throughout the Birmingham Hippodrome.
Amanda Holden, fifty-five, was particularly affected, telling the choir during the broadcast: 'As you started, I completely welled up. I felt so much power. I love the whole community. I love how you've all got together and work your a**es off. You work so hard every single day. You absolutely smashed it and I can't wait to see what you do in the semi-finals.'
Guest judge Stacey Solomon echoed the sentiment, praising the therapeutic power of choral singing, while fellow judges Alesha Dixon and KSI commended the group's musical talent and emotional delivery.
Surprise Pub Appearance Captured on Social Media
Following the broadcast, Amanda Holden decided to personally congratulate the choir members at their gathering at The Fox at Oddington pub. The television personality captured the surprise moment on Instagram, sharing a video that showed her standing outside the establishment clutching a glass of wine before entering to enthusiastic screams and hugs from the astonished farmers.
In her social media caption, Holden wrote: 'About last night…. I decided to surprise @thehawkstonefarmerschoir in my favourite local @thefoxatoddington - they had got together to watch their golden buzzer moment on @bgt @itv! Any excuse for a pint? (of champagne) what a gorgeous evening -so lovely to catch up with them all! Can't wait for the semifinals.'
The video footage showed the judge watching the televised Golden Buzzer moment alongside the choir members as they celebrated with champagne, sharing the emotional experience with their families and friends.
Jeremy Clarkson's Agricultural Collective
The Hawkstone Farmers Choir was originally brought together by television presenter and farmer Jeremy Clarkson in 2024, uniting agricultural workers who typically spend their days in isolation across Britain's rural landscapes. Choir member Katryna Shell explained during the audition: 'Every single one of us is in agriculture in some way or another. This isn't our day jobs; we're usually out in the fields. We work by ourselves day in and day out, sometime 16, 17 hours a day. This has brought us together.'
Shell emphasized how the choir had transformed into something far beyond musical performance, stating: 'The choir has turned into something so much more than singing... We have come together as a community, something I didn't even anticipate. The choir is filled with all sorts of people with varying ages, singing experience, parts of the country but we all have farming linking us together - it's like nothing I've ever experienced before.'
Jeremy Clarkson expressed immense pride in the choir's achievement, telling the Daily Mail: 'I wasn't surprised to see Amanda moved to tears by the choir's performance at their audition, because I've known for a while now that you can plough soil and shovel dung all day and still have a sweet, sweet voice. To see the choir go from a half-formed idea to a musical phenomenon performing on national TV fills me with more pride than I can say and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for them in the semi-finals.'
Road to the Semi-Finals
With their Golden Buzzer securing automatic progression, the Hawkstone Farmers Choir now advances directly to the live semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent. The agricultural collective will compete for the substantial £250,000 prize money and a prestigious spot at this year's Royal Variety Performance, representing Britain's farming community on one of television's biggest stages.
The choir's journey from isolated farm workers to national television performers has captured the public imagination, highlighting both the challenges of agricultural life and the unifying power of music. Their story continues to resonate with audiences across the country as they prepare for the next stage of the competition.
Britain's Got Talent continues its current series next Saturday at 6:45pm on ITV1, ITVX and STV, with viewers eagerly anticipating the Hawkstone Farmers Choir's semi-final performance following their emotional Golden Buzzer moment and Amanda Holden's surprise celebratory pub visit.
