Kyiv in Flames: Russian Attack Kills Child and Sparks Government Building Inferno
Child killed in Russian missile attack on Kyiv

A brutal Russian missile assault struck the heart of Ukraine's capital on Saturday, 7th September, claiming the lives of three civilians—including a young child—and setting a major government facility ablaze, officials confirmed.

The attack, which utilised a combination of missile types, inflicted widespread damage across several districts of Kyiv. Emergency services battled a significant fire that engulfed a government building following the strike, with dramatic footage showing plumes of black smoke rising over the city skyline.

"Among the three civilians killed is a child," Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated, underscoring the tragic human cost of the bombardment. The strike also left a trail of destruction in residential areas, damaging apartments and private homes.

Ukrainian air defence forces were active throughout the attack, successfully intercepting a number of incoming threats. However, the sheer volume of the barrage meant several missiles penetrated the city's defences. The relentless assault forced terrified residents into shelters, a grim routine that has become all too familiar.

This large-scale attack represents a significant escalation in the targeting of the capital, coming just days before a major international summit where support for Ukraine is a key agenda item. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is expected to address the nation regarding the attack.
