Steven Gerrard Tipped for Wrexham Job Amid Phil Parkinson Pressure

Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson has suggested that Steven Gerrard would be interested in taking over as Wrexham manager if Phil Parkinson were to leave. The Welsh club have made a difficult start to their first Championship season in 43 years, collecting just four points from five matches and sitting 21st in the table, one point above the relegation zone.

Despite the poor run, club director Shaun Harvey has dismissed speculation over Parkinson's future, calling reports of discussions about his position 'an absolute disgrace'. Harvey insisted the manager retains full support from the board and Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, adding that Parkinson's future has not been on the agenda.

Robson, however, believes Gerrard would view Wrexham as an attractive opportunity. The Liverpool legend has been out of work since leaving Saudi club Al-Ettifaq in January after 18 months. 'It's whether Stevie wants to get back into the game,' Robson told OLBG. 'A job like that would definitely interest him if he does want to go back into management.'

Nevertheless, Robson urged patience with Parkinson, who has led Wrexham to three consecutive promotions. 'I think Wrexham at this moment in time should give Phil a bit more time because he has done a great job for them,' Robson said. 'If they can consolidate in the Championship, even if they finish mid-table, that would be a really good season.'

Parkinson himself has responded to the pressure, telling The Leader newspaper: 'I have had a lot more pressure situations than this.' He denied any discussions about his future after a recent match and expressed confidence in turning results around.
