Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe has publicly revealed the methods behind his remarkable physical transformation, detailing a significant 55-pound weight loss during a candid appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.
The Weight Loss Revelation
The 61-year-old Gladiator star disclosed that he weighed 277 pounds when he completed filming the historical drama Nuremberg, which premiered earlier this week. Through dedicated effort and professional guidance, Crowe has since reduced his weight to 222 pounds - a dramatic decrease of 55 pounds that has significantly changed his physical condition and capabilities.
The Wellness Company Behind The Transformation
Crowe specifically credited Texas-based wellness company Ways2Well, founded by Brigham Buhler, with playing a crucial role in his health journey. "A lot of [my weight loss] is because you introduced me to your mate Brigham from Ways2Well," Crowe told Rogan during their extensive conversation. The actor revealed he has connected with the wellness provider approximately five times since their initial introduction.
According to its official website, Ways2Well employs innovative diagnostic testing and physician-guided treatment plans with a focus on whole-body wellness. The company aims to help individuals take control of their health through advanced, preventive care that extends beyond traditional healthcare models.
Overcoming Chronic Pain and Inflammation
The New Zealand-born actor explained that numerous old injuries had left his shoulders "deeply arthritic," creating significant obstacles to maintaining a consistent exercise routine. This chronic pain had previously limited his ability to work out effectively and regularly.
Through his treatments with Ways2Well, Crowe received targeted injections in his shoulders and knees, along with specialized IV therapies that he says have "calmed down his body's inflammation" substantially. Remarkably, follow-up ultrasounds have shown that his arthritis has decreased by approximately 70 percent since beginning the treatment program.
"So my range of motion [is much better]... Ways2Well was a great call for me," Crowe stated. "It's calmed down a lot of stuff and taken a lot of pain away from me so I can work out and not have to suffer for two to three hours afterwards."
Training Regimen and Lifestyle Changes
For his upcoming role in the Highlander reboot, Crowe revealed he had been training three times daily - an intensive schedule he acknowledges isn't sustainable long-term. "That, for me, is a bad recipe. I can do that for X amount of time but once I stop I'm going to stop completely. What I want to do is make all these changes long-term," he wisely noted.
The actor has also made significant adjustments to his alcohol consumption, explaining that while he remains "a big proponent for having a drink" as part of his cultural heritage, he's become more mindful about his limits as he's aged.
"Now that I'm an older guy, I know that one night a week, if I'm having fun, is plenty," Crowe shared. "I try to cut out the interstitial stuff. I try not to have casual drinks now, having a drink for the sake of it."
This combination of targeted medical treatment, adjusted training approaches, and lifestyle modifications has enabled the celebrated actor to achieve one of the most significant physical transformations of his later career while establishing sustainable health practices for the future.
