Former Chelsea captain Marcel Desailly has urged the club to consider a move for Darwin Nunez, the striker who left Liverpool for Al-Hilal in the summer. The World Cup winner believes Nunez could flourish under Enzo Maresca's system at Stamford Bridge.
Nunez spent three seasons at Anfield, where his tireless work rate endeared him to supporters despite inconsistent form. Since joining the Saudi Pro League side, the 26-year-old has scored four goals and provided two assists in his first six appearances.
Desailly, speaking to Metro via OLBG, described Nunez as his 'dream transfer target' for Chelsea. He noted that while Nunez had 'bad luck' at Liverpool, his potential remains high. 'If he's still in the market, if Saudi is not suiting him correctly, he could be the one that comes back,' Desailly added.
The Frenchman also addressed Chelsea's defensive issues, calling for greater stability. He acknowledged the squad's youth and injuries but stressed the need for a balanced approach rather than being 'too attracted by getting the ball back.'
