Celebrity Weight Loss Jab Warning: 'Terrible Effects' Without Medical Supervision

Dr Shawana Vali, who runs invitation-only clinics for an A-list clientele, has warned that the weight-loss drug semaglutide—sold as Ozempic and Wegovy—can cause severe side effects if not properly monitored. The drug, which suppresses appetite by mimicking a hormone that regulates blood sugar, has been credited by Elon Musk for his recent slim-down and is now available in the UK via Boots and private clinics.

Dr Vali says she prescribes the drug to top CEOs, royalty, and celebrities, but insists on careful monitoring to avoid complications such as extreme nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and exhaustion. She is horrified that the drug is easily available online for less than £150 a month, with some young women obtaining it after a quick online consultation.

One woman ended up in hospital with severe dehydration after taking a version of the drug bought in Mexico at the wrong dosage. Dr Vali stresses that anyone using semaglutide should be medically supervised, including being weaned off the drug properly to avoid harm to their genetic or biological makeup.

Semaglutide was originally developed for Type 2 diabetes and works by slowing digestion and reducing appetite. However, Dr Vali warns that without professional guidance, users risk serious health consequences. Prices for her services at Selfridges start at £995, while some online dealers offer vials for as little as £80, often sourced from abroad.
