The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) have issued multiple recall notices affecting Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Lidl, John Lewis, and Primark this week. Consumers are urged not to consume or use the affected products due to serious health risks including food poisoning, allergic reactions, lead exposure, and asbestos contamination.
Tesco and Lidl Recall Ham Products Over Listeria Fears
Tesco and Lidl have recalled several ham products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. According to the NHS, listeriosis can cause severe illness, particularly in vulnerable groups. Symptoms include high temperature, aches, chills, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Any customers in possession of this product can return it to their nearest store, where they will receive a full refund.”
Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo Recall
The FSA announced the recall of Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo because it contains undeclared wheat (gluten). The product is mislabelled as “Orzo White Rice” but is actually pasta. The FSA warned: “This product contains wheat making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease.” Consumers are advised to return it for a full refund.
Primark Pepper Mills Contain Lead
Primark has recalled three models of pepper mills sold for £8, made in India. The OPSS stated: “The product presents a serious chemical risk because it contains excess concentrations of lead. The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008.” Consumers should stop using them immediately and return them to any Primark store for a full refund. Further information is available via Primark Live Chat.
John Lewis Door Stops and Draught Excluders Contaminated with Asbestos
John Lewis has recalled a range of door stops and draught excluders sold between January 31, 2021, and June 11, 2026, due to asbestos contamination.
