A Family's Miraculous Moment
A 70-year-old man, who was presumed dead and for whom funeral arrangements were already being made, astonishingly began breathing again in what his family is calling a medical miracle.
The incident involved Makhanlal Vaid from Indore, India, who was hospitalised last week after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He underwent surgery, but his condition continued to worsen, leading doctors to place him on life support.
The Presumed Death
After Vaid was withdrawn from life support, his family believed he had stopped breathing and died. An announcement was made on social media, and relatives gathered at the family home to make arrangements for his funeral.
After approximately half an hour, in a moment that stunned everyone present, the 70-year-old man began breathing again. This occurred while the family was actively planning his final rites.
A Second Chance and a Stark Precedent
Vaid's son has since dubbed the event a miracle and confirmed that his father is now recovering at home. A subsequent social media post from the family read, 'We are praying for my father's speedy recovery.'
This is not an isolated case in India. Last year, a 45-year-old man named Rohitash Kumar, who is both mute and deaf, showed faint signs of life just moments before he was due to be cremated in Jhunjhunu City, Rajasthan.
Kumar had been declared dead by doctors after his condition deteriorated. He had already spent three hours in a freezing morgue before staff noticed he was still breathing. Officials stated that the doctors involved failed to conduct a post-mortem examination, which would have revealed he was alive.
A Police Superintendent for Jhunjhunu City said, 'The doctors were supposed to do a post-mortem examination but they did not do anything. They just fulfilled the paper formalities and sent the man for cremation.'
Tragically, local media reported that Kumar eventually passed away while undergoing emergency treatment following the incident. The principal medical officer and three doctors involved in his case have been suspended over the alleged negligence.
