Dr Karan Rajan, an NHS surgeon and educator, has shared a simple three-ingredient recipe designed to support gut health and muscle maintenance. The recipe uses frozen raspberries, chia seeds, and an optional dollop of honey, and can be used as a jam or yoghurt topping.
Dr Rajan, who has over five million TikTok followers, emphasises the importance of fibre and protein in the diet. He notes that most people consume enough protein but fall short on fibre, with the recommended daily intake of 30g rarely met. The recipe provides 10g of fibre per serving from the raspberries and chia seeds.
To prepare, microwave 80g of frozen raspberries for 30 seconds, then mash them. Stir in one tablespoon of chia seeds until the mixture thickens to a jam-like consistency. Add honey if desired. Dr Rajan recommends serving with kefir yoghurt for additional gut health benefits.
Dr Rajan’s advice comes from his book This Book May Save Your Life, which offers practical health hacks. He believes prevention is more effective and affordable than treatment, especially for chronic diseases.
