Reality TV star Molly-Mae Hague has made a surprising admission about becoming a mother in her early twenties, revealing she potentially should have waited a few more years before starting a family. The 26-year-old influencer, who shares two-year-old daughter Bambi with boyfriend Tommy Fury, also opened up about the intense pressure she feels to give her child a sibling.
Reflections on Young Motherhood
In a candid interview with Cosmopolitan, Molly-Mae reflected on her decision to begin her parenting journey at just 23 years old. "I felt like I'd lived so much life by 23, I felt really ready for a new chapter," she explained. "Tommy and I were in an incredible place, and to have something that was half him, half me, just felt really special."
Despite having no regrets about her choice, the former Love Island contestant acknowledged that with hindsight, her timing might have been different. "I've never had any regrets about starting a family young, but if I could go back and maybe go again, would I have waited a few more years? Potentially," she confessed.
The Sibling Pressure and Family Dynamics
The conversation turned to expanding their family, with Molly-Mae revealing she constantly thinks about having a second child. She expressed feeling "real pressure" to provide Bambi with a brother or sister, largely influenced by her own close relationship with her older sister, Zoe.
"My life wouldn't have been the same without her," Molly-Mae said of her sister, emphasising how much she hopes Bambi can experience that same sibling bond. However, she was clear that any decision to have another child would be for the right reasons, stating firmly: "I would never do it just for her."
The influencer also spoke about the challenges of early motherhood and her appreciation for Bambi's current toddler stage. "I would take a toddler over a newborn any day," she declared, praising the improved communication, laughter, and understanding that comes with this developmental phase.
Recent Controversies and Viral Moments
The Cosmopolitan interview follows recent controversy where Molly-Mae faced mum-shaming after a YouTube video showed Bambi discussing biting her nursery friends, Emily and Dory. In the viral clip, Molly could be heard gently correcting her daughter, saying "What do we use our mouths for? Your mouth is for food, we don't bite anyone, OK."
The situation took a humorous turn when Molly-Mae later posted an Instagram photo dump featuring three personalised cans of Heinz baked beans with the names Bambi, Emily, and Dory written on the labels. Fans quickly flooded the comments section with reactions to the playful reference to the biting incident.
In her vlog, Molly-Mae had admitted to feeling "mentally exhausted" by her daughter's behaviour, though she noted she was handling it better than she might have weeks earlier. The Love Island star, who met boxer Tommy Fury on the ITV2 dating show in 2019, has previously been open about finding parenting stressful, once describing herself as "selfish" and "not cut out" for some aspects of motherhood.
Despite the challenges, Molly-Mae clearly adores her strong-willed daughter, describing Bambi as "very determined" with clear likes and dislikes. "She sometimes loves to push the buttons," the mother admitted, before adding affectionately, "but I love that about her, because she is strong and knows her mind."
