Australian soap star Luke Jacobz and his wife Raychel have announced the joyful arrival of their second child, a baby boy, following a heartbreaking and protracted battle with infertility.
A Joyful Announcement After Heartbreak
The actor, best known for playing Angelo Rosetta in Home and Away, shared the happy news on social media, introducing his newborn son to the world. Luke, 44, and Raychel, 37, welcomed their baby boy on a Monday, naming him John James Scott.
The couple's journey to expand their family has been marked by significant challenges. After meeting in 2017 and starting to try for a baby a year later, they realised they were struggling to conceive and embarked on an IVF journey. This path brought immense sorrow, as the couple suffered through three devastating miscarriages.
Their first child, daughter Maisie, was born in 2023 thanks to IVF. Luke previously described the moment they discovered Raychel was pregnant with Maisie as a moment where they "lost their minds," admitting they were close to giving up because the process was "so hard."
A Natural Miracle and a Touching Tribute
In a remarkable and joyful turn of events, the couple's second child was conceived naturally. Luke shared a series of adorable first snaps of baby John, expressing the family's overwhelming happiness.
In a heartfelt caption, the doting dad explained the profound meaning behind their son's name. John James Scott was named after the influential men in their lives – Luke's father, Raychel's father, and her uncle. Luke wrote that the name ensures "their legacy can live on" through their son.
He also paid a powerful tribute to his wife, praising her "bravery, love, true grit and determination." Luke added, "I saw such strength in you that I never thought possible. I love you with my heart and my soul and promise to teach our boy to be kind, caring, protective and loving."
An Overflow of Congratulations
Fans and colleagues were quick to flood the comments with messages of support and congratulations. Home and Away co-star Todd Lasance called the news "Amazing" and "Incredible."
One fan exclaimed, "Absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations!" while another simply stated, "So happy for you both!" The family, which has now grown from three to four, appears to be basking in the love surrounding their new addition.
